(MITCHELL) - Mitchell City Council members granted the Mitchell Community Public Library permission to put up Little Free Library outlets - essentially small bookcases - at the city park.
Amber Painter of the library says the outlets will be put up near the ball diamonds and near the pool so children can have access to books this summer.
Duke Energy awarded $5,000 to the library to establish at least 10 units in Marion, Bono, and Spice Valley Townships with a focus on areas that do not have direct access to the library.
Based on the concept of "Take a book, leave a book," the free-standing Little Free Libraries provide a way to share books freely within neighborhoods.
