(CAMPBELLSBURG) - A wreck Sunday afternoon on State Road 56 near the intersection of West Washington School Road sent one woman to Floyd Memorial Hospital after a Jackson-Jennings truck swerved into the opposing traffic lane to avoid a vehicle in front of it that was making a turn.
64-year-old Jane Leisure of Scottsburg was heading west on State Road 56 when 39-year-old Angela Satterwhite of Campbellsburg, driving the Jackson-Jennings truck, came up behind another car intending to turn into a driveway and swerved to avoid a collision, striking Leisure's 2004 Chevy Venture minivan head-on.
"The driver of the Jackson-Jennings truck said [the driver intending to turn] didn't have her signal on, but the other driver said she did and had slowed down to make the turn," said Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Charlie Lewis. "There's no way to prove if she did have her signal on or not. She's not being implicated in this."
Lewis was dispatched at 3:55 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 4:06 p.m., along with the Brown-Vernon Fire Department.
