(PATOKA LAKE) - Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body of an Otwell man from Patoka Lake Saturday just before 9 p.m.
Officers located the body of 43-year-old Anthony Catt after conservation officers located him with an underwater camera.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Conservation officers were called to the Goose Island area after a caller reported that Catt had dove into the water from a pontoon boat and failed to resurface after striking his head on the boat. Utilizing divers, sonar, and a Remote Operated Vehicle containing an underwater camera, they located Catt in nearly 20 feet of water, approximately 200 feet from shore.
Catt was not wearing a lifejacket and alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor. An autopsy has been scheduled for today to determine an official cause of death.
Assisting agencies at the scene included Orange County E.M.A., Patoka Lake Reservoir personnel, IU Health Ambulance Service, and the Orange County Coroner's Office.
Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage boaters to wear a lifejacket and avoid alcoholic beverages when aboard watercraft.
