(BEDFORD) - A free, hands-on masonry restoration workshop will be held at Otis Park June 23 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Pine Hall.
Tom Johnson, owner of Keystone Restorations in New Albany, will demonstrate the techniques and materials needed for tuckpointing historic buildings, and guide participants in practicing those skills.
Johnson has more than four decades of experience in masonry restoration. He has worked on homes, churches, commercial and public buildings.
Johnson said the workshop is applicable for do-it-yourselfers or for those who are considering having work contracted on their buildings, so they will better know what to look for.
He encourages people coming to the workshop to bring pictures of their walls or masonry that need repair, so he can give individualized advice.
The workshop is hosted by the Historic Preservation Committee of Bedford Revitalization Inc., in cooperation with the Southern Regional Office of Indiana Landmarks.
