(BLOOMFIELD) - A 35-year-old Jasonville man, wanted in a disturbing case involving rape and incest, is finally behind bars.
David L. Scank was arrested around 1 p.m. Friday.
Police have been looking for Scank for a long time - a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 16, 2013. In the days following, police were unable to locate Scank and suspected he had fled the state.
Shortly before Scank's arrest, the Greene County Prosecutor's Office filed a petition in Greene Superior Court increase Scank's bond to $100,000 cash.
Scank is accused of a sexual assault believed to have occurred at a location outside Jasonville in January of 2013.
The victim submitted to a sexual assault examination and Scank's DNA was recovered.
Scank appeared in Greene Superior Court Monday and was charged with rape by force or imminent threat of force and incest
Scank told the judge he wanted to ask for a speedy trial. He was advised to speak to his attorney about that.
That he was not employed and the last time he was employed was in Texas a couple of years ago. He said he had no children, no source of income, no savings, no real estate and no vehicle.
The judge appointed a public defender to represent him.
If Scank should make bond, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim in the case.
