(BEDFORD) - Barry Jeskewich has been appointed Bedford’s new parks director.
The son of Michael and Carla Jeskewich, he was born and raised in Bedford and graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School.
He was picked from three finalists and will take the reins from Mike Mitchell, who will retire effective July 1.
He will work with Mitchell from June 23 to June 30 to insure a smooth transition within the department and then will take over on July 1.
Jeskewich has a bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure studies from Purdue University.
He currently works for Beech Mountain Resort, a skiing and mountain biking facility in North Carolina. He has experience in the private sector and in renowned locations like Yellowstone National Park and Grand Canyon National Park.
Jeskewich says he is excited to return to Bedford to be closer to his parents and raise his two daughters with his wife Bridget in his hometown.
