(SPRINGVILLE) - A Linton man suffered serious injuries after he was thrown from his vehicle on Ind. 54, west of Reuter Lane early Monday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, officers were called to the crash site at 4:07 a.m. after a resident reporting hearing what he thought was a crash, but didn't see any vehicles.
First responders from Perry Volunteer Fire Department were the first on the scene and found a vehicle off Ind. 54 down an embankment in the woods.
The driver, 35-year-old Matthew Moore, was found lying on the ground unconscious west of the 2001 Dodge Neon.
Moore, who suffered numerous injuries, was taken to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
According to police Moore was traveling east on Ind. 58 when the car went off the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting Moore from the car. The vehicle then continued down the embankment, turned 180 degrees before stopping.
Police say the accident is still under investigation.
