(LINTON) - 34-year-old Kristy Humphery of Linton was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing more than $900 worth of items from the Linton Walmart.
Linton Police were called to the store after an employee witnessed Humphery remove Walmart shopping bags from her purse and then start placing items like fireworks, clothing and consumables in the sacks. She also picked up a vacuum, and several fishing poles and put them in her cart and then went to the pharmacy checkout and purchased a few small items and put that bag in her cart along with the receipt and exited the store.
An employee stopped Humphery until police arrived.
Police believe Humphrey bringing her own Walmart bags to the store and bagging the items in her cart indicated that she had the intent to steal the items.
Police say it is common practice for individuals who steal numerous items from retail stores to bring their own bags for the items. They then purchase a small item or items and place the bag with the receipt attached in their cart with the stolen goods, to make it appear that all of the items were purchased.
Humphery was arrested on a charge of felony theft. She posted bond a $400 cash bond shortly after being arrested.
