(MITCHELL) - The city of Mitchell will begin flushing hydrants today.
The water department will start in the northwest quadrant of the city, then progress to the northeast, southwest and southeast quadrants.
Bad weather could force workers to change the schedule for flushing.
All hydrant flushing should be complete by June 27.
During hydrant flushing, customers may experience low or no water pressure. The water can be muddy and/or rusty and could stain laundry. If the water becomes discolored let the cold faucets run for a short while, and it should clear up.
Questions should be directed to the utilities department at 849-4168.
