(BLOOMINGTON) - Police are investigating what appears to be a suicide that happened Friday morning at a Hardin Ridge campground near Lake Monroe.
Monroe County Sheriff's Capt. Troy Thomas says a Department of Natural Resources employee discovered the body of Michael Jamison and a suicide note, inside a car that had come to rest against a tree in the Bluegill campground area.
The car was in drive and the engine was still running, Thomas says, when it was found at 7:44 a.m.
The man did not sustain injuries in the crash into the tree, nor was the car badly damaged, Thomas added. Jamison's body was found slumped in the front seat. There was no weapon found in the vehicle.
The cause of the Jamison's death has not been determined.
Jamison's driver's license indicated he was not from the Bloomington area and his family has been notified.
Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine cause of death.
