(BEDFORD) - Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families Association will have its fifth annual Support Our Troops Ride Saturday. The event raises money for the group that sends care packages, phone cards to troops and also assists soldiers and their families in other ways.
Organizer Kimberly Johnson would like to see the community support the event as riders take off from the National Guard Armory on 29th Street.
"We're inviting people to come and wave American flags from Brian Lane Way to 16th Street heading west," she said.
Last year, 117 motorcycles participated with 178 riders. More than 200 people attended the post-ride silent auction and meal.
Johnson says the ride is HHAFFA's primary fundraiser.
Registration is from 9-11 a.m. at the armory. The $25 fee includes food from Smokin' Jim's BBQ and a live band. Passengers ride for free. The public is welcome to come to the armory and eat, listen to the band and bid on silent auction items. The event ends at 5 p.m.
