(FAYETTEVILLE ) - Three people were injured after an intoxicated driver crashed into a tree Sunday afternoon.
But before the crash, one occupant of the vehicle kicked out the front window of the vehicle and fire four shots at a home on Fayetteville Williams Road.
"At some point the two front seat passengers switched seats," says Sheriff Sam Craig. "Then the accident happened."
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 26-year-old Dustin Weldon, of 2986 Port Williams Rd., couldn't tell police what happened.
According to police Weldon was traveling west on Ridge road when the 1993 GM Jimmy he was driving went off the right side of the road and hit a tree head-on. The vehicle then went back onto the road and overturned multiple times.
Weldon suffered abrasions to his head. His passengers 25-year-old Sara Eds, of 1630 Ridge Rd., suffered abrasions and complained of pain and 47-year-old Wilam Stevens, of 1630 Ridge Rd., suffered abrasions and complained of pain.
Weldon was arrested on two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, disorderly conduct, two counts of criminal recklessness with a firearm.
Craig says, according to witnesses, Weldon was the one who fired the shots out of the vehicle.
"He was also disorderly at the crash site and then again while being treated at the hospital," he added.
