(BEDFORD) - The first meeting regarding voting centers for Lawrence County will take place Wednesday, July 2nd at the WBIW radio station on Heltonville Road.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the conference room.
A committee comprised of Commissioner Chris May and Lawrence County Clerk Myron Rainey along with both school superintendents and others will be looking into the fast-growing trend of developing voting centers.
A voting center is a polling place where any eligible voter in the county may go to vote. They give voters more flexibility on Election Day because they are not constrained to a specific polling location. The centers are connected through secure internet connections, and as ballots are cast, an electronic poll book is instantaneously updated.
For more information contact Rainey at 277-2036.
