(BLOOMINGTON) - Softball teams from 24 states are headed to town as the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department prepares to host its 26th national tournament.
The 2014 Amateur Softball Association of America Girls "Class A" tournament for ages 12 and younger is expected to bring nearly 2,800 people to the city, with opening ceremonies scheduled for Monday.
Parks department Director Mick Renneisen said he expects the tournament to generate between $2.3 and $2.5 million in economic impact, based on the age group and daily average spending rate.
