(SWITZ CITY) - Local fans packed the Outdoor Arena at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds Saturday evening to watch 15 contestants compete in the first Greene County’s Got Talent contest.
The show featured renditions of songs from popular artists ranging from Queen to Jewel, with a gymnastics routine thrown in for good measure.
7-year-old Layla Burnfield won the trophy for the top "17 and Under" contestant, singing a song written by her mother with guitar accompaniment from her father Jason.
Julie James took home the trophy for "18 and Over" contestants, while 13-year-old Ashtynn Powell won both the "Judges Choice" and "Overall Winner" trophies for her rendition of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love".
Powell, a Linton resident, spent several months rehearsing for the contest and hopes to pursue a career in music one day.
