(BEDFORD) - Bedford Postmaster Tom Priddy has retired after 57 years. He spent more than 20 of those years as Bedford’s postmaster.
Priddy began working for the postal service in June 1957. To put that in perspective, Dwight Eisenhower was president when Priddy began working for the postal service.
Priddy, who lives in East Oolitic, was born and raised in Bedford and was recognized Tuesday for his service.
Priddy has been on an extended leave and has not been active as postmaster for the past couple of years. Shelli Warren has served as officer in charge since then.
The postmaster position has been advertised and it's possible a new postmaster will be named by mid-August.
