(BEDFORD) - A convicted sex offender was arrested after he failed to let the Lawrence County sex offender registry manager or his probation officer know he had opened a Facebook account.
38-year-old Joshua King was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Saturday on a felony warrant for a sex offender committing an Internet offense.
According to a probable cause affidavit, King, who was convicted of child molesting in 1996, is "required to not use any social networking website, instant messaging, or chat room program that allows a person who is under 18 years of age to access or use the website or program."
On July 7, Detective Cody Medlock of the Lawrence County Police Department found a Facebook page created by King under the name "Clayton Royalty." Clayton is King's middle name, and Royalty seems to be a play on King's last name.
King used the account to create a page on Facebook entitled "Unicorn Strike Force" for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community, according to the affidavit.
King admitted to creating the Facebook account on Oct. 3, 2013.
King was convicted in 2012 for a previous Internet offense.
