Last updated on Monday, July 14, 2014

(COLUMBUS) - It had been 19 years since Craig Bowden last won or even played in the Indiana Open.

The Bedford native, who lives in Bloomington, shot a 4-under 68 for the second straight day to pull away for a three-shot win third-round leader Andy Winnings on Thursday.

Bowden, who shot a pair of 67s in the first two rounds of the tournament, parlayed a consistent week into an 18-under par total of 270 in the 99th Indiana Open.

Bowden, a former PGA and Web.com Tour player, said in a news release the win means a lot, and to come out and shoot 18-under par at Otter Crek, which is considered to a be a difficult course, felt great.

Bowden becomes just the ninth player to win the Indiana Open three times, adding the 2014 crown to wins in 1994 and '95.

Winnings finished second with a four-day total of 15-under 273, while McCormick Clouser was third at 11-under. IU golfer David Mills shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 11th at 4-under 284, while Linton's Clayton French had an 81 to bring up the rear of the field.
