Last updated on Friday, July 11, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Dennis Groth, Indiana University interim vice provost for undergraduate education has been named vice provost.

He became interim vice provost in May 2013 after Sonya Stephens left IU for a position at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. Groth was previously associate vice provost for undergraduate education since 2009.
.
His office is responsible for overseeing programs and initiatives for academics at IU Bloomington. That includes advising, testing, resources and international programs. Groth also led a team of faculty, students and staff to create the undergraduate experience portion of the campus strategic plan. The plan increases opportunities for student leadership, interdisciplinary research, international travel and discussion of global issues.

The vice provost's office is also working to strengthen the intersection of career and academic advising so students are talking about career outcomes very early in the process.

Groth is also an associate professor in the School of Informatics and Computing and has a doctorate in computer science from IU. He joined the IU faculty in 2002.
