(TUNNELTON) - A fire destroyed a Tunnelton home early this morning.
Firefighters from Guthrie and Shawswick townships responded to the blaze reported at 1:27 a.m. on Seneca Street.
Shawswick arrived on the scene with three trucks and 4 firefighters and Guthrie brought one truck with four firefighters to battle the blaze that engulfed the single-story home.
"We did a surround and douse," says Shawswick VFD Chief Bob Brown. "That is about all we could do."
Guthrie firefighter Jeremy Mikels says the home is owned by Nancy Brown. There was electrical power to the home, but no one was living there."
Two outbuildings were also destroyed.
"We went into defensive mode," Mikels says. "It was pretty well gone when we arrived."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Lawrence County police officers and Tabernacle of Praise Emergency Services.
