(SWITZ CITY) - There will be a hog wrestling contest at the Greene County 4-H Fair on Thursday night.
The event sponsored by the Greene County General Hospital kicks off at 8 p.m. and spotlights
teams of no more than four people.
The goal of the Hog Wrestling Contest is for a team to catch and place a hog on a barrel with their bare hands in 45 seconds or less, although unnecessary cruelty will result in the disqualification of a team found doing such an act.
The 1st place winners of each class will receive $125 in cash, as well as a t-shirt.
There are four classes, made up of girls 10 to 15 years old, girls 16 or older, boys 10 to 15 years old, and boys 16 years or older. Teams consisting of both boys and girls will be placed in the boys' category.
All contestants under 18 years of age, however, must have a signed released form to be eligible to participate.
Before leaving the arena, it is required that all participants must wash off all the mud that might be on themselves. Contestants are advised to bring a change of clothes for the ride home.
The cost of entering the contest is $32 per team if registered before noon on Wednesday, July 16th, or $40 per team if registered after noon on Wednesday, and the additional entry fee must be paid the night of the contest during check-in.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Greene County Fair Office.
