(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Highway Department has expanded the road work scheduled and made changes to the previously announced paving schedule.
Highway Department Superintendent David Holmes says the bridge on Stars Boulevard between U.S. 50 East and Bedford North Lawrence High School will be closed today from 7 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. to make repairs to the bridge approach, so traffic will not be able to get through.
Plans to pave Leatherwood Road and roads in the Kenray Lake area were also pushed back.
The new schedule:
Leatherwood Road from Brown Station Road to Standish Steel Road will be closed for paving Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. No traffic will be allowed through.
East Kenray Lake Road, South Kenray Lake Road and Myers Road all will be closed for paving Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. No traffic will be allowed through.
On Friday, County Bridge 199 was closed. Bridge inspectors found severe deterioration on one of the beams on the bridge located on Tunnelton-Dennison Road between Dennison Schoolhouse Road and Hidden Falls Camp Road in Guthrie Township.
Officials are looking at their options to get the repairs or replacement of the bridge done as quickly as possible, but it will be closed for at least eight weeks.
Holmes says the truss bridge over Guthrie Creek on Jasper McKeaigg Road also was closed because the inspection found some deterioration. That bridge will not be open until later this fall.
