(JASONVILLE) - A Jasonville man was arrested after he broke into a man’s house in an attempt to spy on his wife.
According to police on July 17, Jasonville police received a call about a man walking around a home. That man was 50-year-old Kevin Stewart. Stewart fled before police arrived, but witnesses including Stewart's wife who was in the home, identified him to police.
Later that night, the resident called 911 to report he had heard the front door of his enclosed porch open and that a man was standing on his porch.
When police arrived they found Stewart standing on the steps to the porch.
Stewart told police he was at the home to spy on his wife and he went on the porch to hear what she was telling the homeowners.
Stewart admitted that he was trespassing and told him he used a small tear in the screen portion of the door to the porch to stick his hand through and unlock the door from the inside.
Stewart told police he had been on the porch listening for about a half hour. He told police he saw his wife leave, but remained on the porch to see if he could hear anymore information.
Stewart was arrested on a charge of residential entry.
