(SALEM) - 37-year-old Timmy Reynolds of Salem is facing felony charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and child solicitation.
The girl was a friend of Reynold's daughter.
Police were notified about the allegations after the victim' mother claims Reynolds forced her daughter to have sexual contact with him. The mother also found text messaged referring to a sexual encounter between her daughter and Reynolds.
The girl told police that Reynolds had touched her in a sexual manner and force her to perform oral sex on him.
The Leader Democrat reports two incidents occurred last December and in January, when the girl went with Reynolds to cut wood. It was during that outing that he forced her to have oral sex with him.
When police interviewed Reynolds, he initially denied having had sexual contact with the girl, but did admit the two had been texting, estimating they exchanged more than 50 messages per month.
He told police he believed the allegations were a set-up and that the girl was perhaps being abused by someone in her family.
Detectives told Reynolds they didn't believe him and that is when Reynolds began crying and asked for an attorney and stated he did not rape the girl.
Reynolds remains incarcerated at the Washington County Detention Center. His bond was set at $25,000 full cash, $110,000 surety or $240,000 property.
