(SALEM) - The Salem Parks and Recreation Department will hold registration for youth football for grades three to six on the following dates:
The Salem Parks and Recreation Department youth football league is for children residing in Washington County in all three school districts. Cost is $35 per player and equipment will be issued at the time of registration.
A coaches meeting at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 3, will be held at the Salem High School gym. This meeting is mandatory for prospective coaches. Coaches will be considered by the league directors and high school coaches and must be approved by the Salem Parks and Recreation Department.
Coaches must have a coaching application on file by the first practice, along with completed background checks and the approval of the Salem Parks and Recreation Department.
If you are interested in becoming a youth league football coach, please stop by the Salem Parks and Recreation office, 201 E. Market St., to pick up an application and return it as soon as possible.
Football drafts will take place Monday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Salem High School gym.

Both meetings are in the Salem High School auxiliary gym. The Parks and Recreation Department stresses the importance of attending one of these meetings for player safety information.
