Two Injured In Accident In West Baden Springs

(WEST BADEN SPRINGS) - 19-year-old Landis Guthrie of Campbellsburg was flown by helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 150 in Orange County.

He suffered incapacitating injuries including numerous fractures. A second driver 60-year-old Wanda Anderson, of French Lick suffered abdomen and pelvis pain and was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Both drivers were trapped and had to be freed from their vehicles.

According to an Orange County Sheriff's Department report, the accident happened at 5:49 a.m., on U.S. 150 about 1,900 feet east of County Road 550 West.

According to police traffic was backed up when they arrived on the scene and saw Guthrie's 1997 Buick LeSabre, in the westbound lane facing south. Anderson's 2006 Ford Escape was off the side of the road.

Landis told police he was driving to work and fell asleep. Anderson told police she was driving to work in Paoli when Guthrie's vehicle came into her lane and struck her vehicle before she could react.
