(BEDFORD) - Two women were arrested Sunday night on drug charges after one was caught shoplifting at the Dollar General Store.
38-year-old Brandie Longest of Paoli was charged with theft, possession of meth, public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court.
54-year-old Kelly Staggs of Mitchell was charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and public intoxication.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the store on X Street at 9:30 p.m. and given a description of Longest. When police arrived, she was coming out of the store and get into a vehicle.
As officers were talking to Longest they noticed she was attempting to hide something under her seat. That is when they discovered she had meth and drug paraphernalia.
Staggs, who also was in the vehicle, was found with Temazepan pills that she did not have a prescription for. Both women were arrested and taken to jail.
