(BEDFORD) - Installation of more than 100 windows will soon begin at the Lawrence County Courthouse. Michael Conly, president of Architura Corp., told the Lawrence County Commissioners the windows will be shipped on Sept. 4 and installation should begin Sept. 8
City Glass of Bloomington will be installing the windows at two per day.
Conly anticipates it will take 60 days to complete, estimating the project will be completed around the second week of November.
A lot of that will depend on the courts schedule, because demolition is noisy.
In other areas of the courthouse, Tri-County Builders completed construction at the north door which now serves as a public entrance, while courthouse employees enter through the south door.
Ameresco, who is installing the new heating and cooling system, is also making progress.
Conley says HVAC work has been completed on the east side of the building is completed and work on the west side should be completed soon.
Demolition of the old boiler will begin at the end of August, but before that is done there will be a project meeting in mid-August to coordinate all the contractors working on renovations at the courthouse.
Conly also asked the Lawrence County Commissioners what they wanted done with the old windows and air conditioning units.
After a brief discussion, the commissioners decided to wait until the units can be inspected to determine if they could be donated to county agencies or local charitable organizations.
