Bedford Man Arrested After Jumping Into Woman's Vehicle

Last updated on Wednesday, August 6, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly jumped into a woman’s vehicle at the Circle K at 16th and H streets early Tuesday morning.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, the woman came to the police station at 12:28 a.m. to report that a strange man and his dog had jumped into her vehicle while she was at the service station.

"She then told him to get out of her vehicle and started to dial 911 on her phone," Parsley says. "That is when the man grabbed her preventing her from making the call."

That is when the woman screamed and 27-year-old Joshua Charles got out of the vehicle.

When police arrived at Circle K the man was gone, but witnesses told police the man's truck was still in the lot. Officers called for a canine to track the man.

"At about that time the owner of the truck and Mr. Charles, girlfriend arrived," Parsley added. "She was able to inform us who the man was and where was."

Officers went to Sunset Lane, just off of Sand Pit Road where they found Charles.

He was arrested without incident on charges of criminal confinement, battery, interfering with a 911 call and unauthorized entry to a vehicle.
