(JACKSON CO.) - The Jackson County United Way has announced the kickoff of the 2014 Hope for Our County Campaign with events in four communities in Jackson County with a focus on education.
All events are free and open to the public but attendees are encouraged to donate new or gently used books and games which will be distributed to area youth to encourage reading and math skills.
Today's event kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Brownstown Senior Citizens Center. The event will feature live music from Jordan Richart.
On Saturday there will be an annual Rock'n Ready School Supply Distribution event at Seymour High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will feature activities, giveaways, and resource materials for families. Live music will be provided by LOm Win, Jordan Richart, Thrown Apart and Sean Michael Jennings.
Then on Tuesday visit Medora from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a balloon launch, a corn hole tournament and other family activities at the school playground. A mobile food pantry will also be there.
