(SALEM) - Police have released the name of a Salem man killed early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash on State Road 60 East.
27-year-old Brian Schuler was killed when a Ford F-150 crashed and caught fire in a accident near Powers Road on State Road 60.
According to Washington County Coroner Rondale Brishaber, Schuler died from injuries suffered in the accident.
27-year-old Andrew Stingel of Salem was also injured and was flown to U of L hospital where he remains with non-life threatening injuries. Police say Stingle was conscious and able to speak to officers.
The pickup was registered to Amtek Signs in Salem. Police are still attempting to determine who was driving the truck.
Based on officer's observations of the crash scene, the vehicle was traveling West on State Road 60 west of Powers Road around 1:36 a.m. when it went off the north edge of the roadway.
The driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to slide sideways across the highway and strike a concrete culvert.
The vehicle overturned several times, stopped on its side and caught on fire.
Indiana State Police, Salem Police, the Washington County EMS, Pierce-Polk Volunteer Fire Department assisted with this accident as well as Trooper Travis Baker, Newlon, Deputy Allen Taylor and Lt. Ryan Larrimore.
