(BEDFORD) - A Stilesville man was arrested after he injured his girlfriend’s 10-year-old daughter Tuesday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to a home in the 1800 block of O Street after a report of a domestic fight.
When officers arrived at 11:21 p.m. they were confronted by several witnesses that told police 33-year-old Allen Wright had got into an argument with the child in the yard after she refused to go to bed. The argument turned physical after Wright allegedly grabbed the girl around the chest and neck.
"He told police he grabbed her to carry her in the house and the child was injured after a neighbor grabbed him to stop him," Parsley says.
Witnesses disagreed and told police Wright was using unnecessary force.
The child suffered bruising to her upper arm and complained of chest and neck pain.
Wright was arrested on charges of battery on a minor and strangulation.
