(BEDFORD) - Man arrested after he allegedly hit a woman in the face during a domestic fight at the Rosemount Motel Wednesday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the motel at 8:39 p.m. after three women went to the motel to retrieve some of their belongings from a woman staying at the motel.
That is when the domestic fight started.
39-year-old David S. Smith, who was staying in another room at the motel, got involved because he knew the woman that was arguing with the three women. One of the three women attempted to break up the fight and that is when Smith allegedly punched her in the face. She then dialed 911.
Police say the woman was hit with a closed fist and suffered redness and some bruising to her temple area. She refused medical treatment.
"When police arrived Smith was back in his motel room," Parsley says. "Officers asked him to step outside. Mr. Smith was yelling and cursing and was taken to a police car where he continued to yell and scream after being asked to stop several times."
Officers then arrested Smith for disorderly conduct. They then discovered Smith was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear. The woman also filed a battery affidavit against Smith adding the charge of battery causing injury.
