(LINTON) - 63-year-old Billy J. Farquer died from head, chest and abdomen injuries after he crashed his pickup on County Road 450 South, Thursday morning.
According to police, Farquer was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger westbound on County Road 450 South, east of State Road 59 south, when the accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m.
Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Harvey Holt says Farquer swerved hard to the left for an unknown reason and the vehicle left the south side of the roadway.
The truck traveled approximately 103 feet through a ditch almost hitting a pedestrian. The vehicle then struck a culvert and went airborne for approximately 55 feet before landing. It then continued on for another 40 feet, hitting a second culvert and a concrete post.
When the vehicle finally came to stop, it was partially inverted on the driver's side.
Joseph Sullivan Jr., 21, a passenger in the vehicle but was not injured.
Numerous emergency personnel responded to the scene and Farquer was transported by the Greene County Ambulance Service to Greene County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say both airbags deployed and Sullivan told police both were wearing seat belts, however, police say Farquer did not appear to have been wearing his seatbelt because his head hit the windshield.
Police say speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
In addition to Deputy Holt and the ambulance service, other emergency personnel responded from Greene County Rescue, Air Evac and the Sandborn Fire Department.
