(BEDFORD) - A Mooresville man was arrested after he became combative with Lawrence County Police officers Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to Bartlettsville and Hearth Road after police received a call at 5:21 p.m. about a vehicle parked along the road and a man lying in the field.
When police arrived they found 39-year-old Anthony Short in the field.
According to Sheriff Sam Craig, officers asked Short if he was okay and then called for an ambulance to check Short's condition. Short told police he had ran out of gas and needed a wrecker.
In the mean time, Short became both physically and verbally combative with police. Officers warned Short several times about his behavior and that is when he began swinging at police and then attempted to run.
"An officer had to deploy his taser," Craig added. "Mr. Short was then checked by medical personnel and arrested.
Short is facing charges of battery on an officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force and by fleeing.
The officers was no injured.
Assisting at the scene was Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
