(BEDFORD) - 35-year-old Kalib McPike of Bedford was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections after he plead guilty to dealing meth.
According to court records, Lawrence County I Judge Michael Robbins suspended four of the 10 years. McPike will serve those years on supervised probation. McPike will also participate in the Lawrence County Drug Court.
McPike and 22-year-old Cecily Conn were arrested for dealing meth after the vehicle McPike was driving was pulled over for running a stop sign at Ind. 37 and Art Gallery Road in May.
They were both arrested on charges of dealing meth with a firearm, two charges of dealing meth, possession of more than 3 grams of meth, possession of meth with a firearm, two charges of maintaining a common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.
Officers spoke to McPike and asked him to step out of the vehicle. When officers approached the vehicle they could smell the odor of burnt marijuana. When Cecily (Conn) stepped out, an orange colored baggy and a razor dropped to the ground.
A police dog then alerted police there were drugs inside the truck.
Officers found drug paraphernalia including a glass smoking device with a white powder in it and they found marijuana in a package of cigarettes.
While being booked into the jail, officers found Conn had also concealed a baggy of meth on her person.
Following a motion filed by the prosecutor's office on July 30, the court dismissed all charges against McPike except one count of dealing in meth in exchange for the plea agreement.
Prosecutors have also offered Conn a plea deal. All the charges were dropped against her except dealing in meth and she is scheduled to be sentenced on September 3 by Judge Robbins at 9 a.m.
