(PAOLI ) - Orange County will host the Orange County Publishing company’s Great Spelling Bee in February 2015.
The event will be held in the Farlow Uysugi Auditorium at Paoli Junior-Senior High School. The event was made possible by generous support of the Orange County Community Foundation, and Old National Bank and Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company.
Miles Flynn, the event's coordinator says more than a dozen students in grades fifth through eighth grade from all three Orange County school systems, along with homeschoolers will compete.
The winner of the event will go on an all-expenses-paid trip, along with a parent or guardian, to Washington, D.C., to represent Orange County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May 2015.
About 1,200 winners of spelling bees nationwide will attend a barbecue; participate in games and sightseeing at the national capitol. An awards banquet and dance will end the festivities on May 29.
