(MITCHELL) - The city of Mitchell is working on the 2014-2015 budget, but Clerk-treasurer warned city officials the estimated budget of $2,608, 714 has increased by 6.4 percent.
Most of that increase is because of increased health insurance premiums. James says health insurance coverage cost about a half-million dollars a year.
The public hearing for the budget will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 8, during the regular city council meeting at city hall.
The budget and salary ordinance are scheduled to be adopted by the council during the council meeting on October 6.
