(MITCHELL) - Spring Mill State Park will host their second annual Children’s Outdoor Weekend, this weekend.
Children can attend programs throughout the weekend to earn a Children's Outdoor Bill of Rights patch and certificate. If a child has last year's patch, there will be favorite activity patches available. Some of the activities include meeting a conservation officer and finding out about safety in parks, naturalist-led hikes, planting seeds to take home, a creek stomp and a fishing game with prizes.
The event is held to encourage children to pay outdoors. Also, the Department of Natural Resources believes the future of conservation and stewardship of natural and cultural resources depends on engaging America's children.
There are no fees for the events, but regular park admission applies.
