(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence senior center Jenna Allen, declared for defending Big Ten regular-season champion Michigan State Sunday, verbally committing to accept a full-ride scholarship to play for head coach Suzy Merchant in 2015-16.
Allen, who averaged 14.9 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while helping the Lady Stars to their second consecutive Class 4A state title last season, originally selected Indiana as her college choice, but decommitted after head coach Curt Miller suddenly resigned in July.
Allen visited the campus, meet with coaches and future teammates this weekend sealing her decision to become a Spartan.
Her father and new high school head coach, Jeff Allen, is glad the decision is over so his daughter can focus on her studies and lead BNL to an unprecedented third consecutive Class 4A state title.
