Come Home To Solsberry Hometown Fair Is Saturday

(SOLSBERRY) - The public is invited to “Come Home to Solsberry”, the Annual Solsberry Hometown Fair.

The fair will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the grounds of the Eastern Fire Department.

The goal of the event is to bring together friends, families, and neighbors to celebrate the small town community.

This year's fair will feature Don Collier, a western television actor in the 1960s. He played U.S. Marshal Will Foreman in the 1960-1962 NBC series Outlaws. Collier appeared in the first seasons of both CBS's long-running Gunsmoke and NBC's powerhouse western Bonanza .

The Greene County Daily World reports, Collier, along with other local performers and retired Iraqi War Dog jJackson, will help honor local veterans at the Veteran Salute that will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

B.J. Yoho, a Solsberry native, will also be at the event all day accepting donations for his annual B.J. Clause Toy Drive.

Monetary donations can be made along with new, unwrapped toys that will be delivered to children at Riley's Children Hospital for Christmas.

Other events include a motorcycle show. Registration for the show will take place from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and voting will follow until 1 p.m. Awards will be given for the show at 2 p.m.

Karen Kovich will also be offering free caricature drawings from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and REMC will perform a live wire demonstration at 2 p.m.

The American Red Cross will also have a bloodmobile accepting blood donations from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Everyone who donates will receive a coupon for a free haircut.

Other entertainers for the day include Lily Meister, Face the Sun, the Eastern Greene High School Strings, and a chalk drawing by Wayne Hudson.
