(WASHINGTON) - A proposed name change for a road in northern Daviess County has the Daviess County Commissioners seeking input from residents.
The road in question is CR 1700N on the border with Greene County. Greene County is changing the name to County Line Road.
Daviess County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius says Greene County is going through a remapping process as part of an upgrade in their E-911 system. Daviess County went through a similar process several years ago, but decided to maintain the old number system.
Another problem is Daviess County has another road with the same name on the Daviess-Martin County line.
Officials are concerned having two roads with the same name could turn into an issue in an emergency.
The county commissioners have had some discussions about changing the name of the road to match the Greene County name of County Line Road but so far have put off a final decision until the commissioners hear from people who live in the area.
