(BEDFORD) - An Oolitic man was arrested after he allegedly walked out of Walmart with a television set Friday morning.
Bedford police officers were called to the store at 10:25 a.m. after a report that security attempted to stop a man as he exited the store with a television he didn't pay for.
Security told police they attempted to stop the man who rushed to a vehicle after the store security alarm sounded as he exited the store.
"The man was asked to provide security with his receipt, which he then held up a piece of paper, jumped in the vehicle and fled," Chief Dennis Parsley says.
Officers were given a license plate number and description of the vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped in the northbound lane of Ind. 37 near the Oolitic exit.
Officers arrested 38-year-old Kevin Lewis, of Oolitic, on a charge of theft.
