(SEYMOUR) - The public has offered police a few leads into a possible suspect in robberies of a bank and credit union Thursday in Jackson County.
None of those tips, however, has produced an arrest - yet.
Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott said investigators with his department and the Indiana State Police continue to look into each tip they have received in the robberies reported at The Peoples Bank branch in Crothersville and Centra Credit Union in Seymour.
Indiana State Police (ISP) Spokesman Sgt. Noel Houze, with the Versailles Post, says that at approximately 11:45 a.m., a white male entered the Peoples Bank at 310 North Armstrong St. in Crothersville. He allegedly robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5'8" to 6 feet tall, approximately 175 to 200 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a "Mr. Rogers" t-shirt, camouflage shorts, camouflage ball cap, with short "buzzed" red hair. Witnesses say that the suspect did not display a weapon.
Approximately one hour prior to the Crothersville robbery, the Centra Credit Union located on South Jackson Park Drive in Seymour was also robbed.
ISP say the description of the suspect in the Seymour robbery matches that of the suspect in the Crothersville robbery, with the exception of the Mr. Rogers t-shirt. The suspect in the Seymour robbery was described as wearing a blue plaid, collared shirt. Despite the difference in wardrobe, investigators from the state police and Seymour Police Department believe the same suspect robbed both banks.
Anyone with information regarding either robbery is urged to contact either the Indiana State Police at (800) 566-6704 or 812-689-5000 or the Seymour Police Department at (812) 522-1234. Police say information can be left anonymously.
