(GREENE CO.) - Indiana Department of Transportation contractors plan to patch and resurface 6.4 miles of State Road 67 from S.R. 54 in Switz City to the Worthington town limits beginning on or after Tuesday, Sept. 9.
During construction S.R. 67 will be reduced to one lane with flaggers controlling traffic around mobile crews. Drivers should anticipate delays.
When completed, crews will grind and paint yellow "rumble stripes" in the centerline of S.R. 67. Research has shown that vibratory rumble stripes improve visibility and reduce lane-departure crashes caused by impaired or distracted drivers.
Dave O'Mara Contractor Inc. was the lowest bidder with $1.1 million in the July contract letting. The project is expected to be complete in November 2014; weather and materials dependent.
