(SALEM) - An 8-month-old baby girl was at the center of a domestic dispute that resulted in the baby’s father being arrested on charges of domestic battery and strangulation.
24-year-old William Motsinger of Salem was arrested after the baby's mother reported the child had been injured on August 17 during a domestic fight.
The woman told police she was leaving her home with a friend when Motsinger pulled into the driveway, jumped from his vehicle and began screaming and cursing at the woman. Motsinger told the woman he wanted to hold his baby before she left. The woman refused saying he needed to calm down first before holding the child.
That is when Motsinger allegedly opened the back door of the vehicle and attempted to removed the baby from her car seat.
The woman then got between Motsinger and the child to prevent him getting to the child.
Motsinger allegedly grabbed the woman around the neck and there was a struggle. The woman says Motsinger slammed her head against the vehicle twice.
Police say the woman did have bruising from the struggle.
Motsinger was later arrested at his home in the 6300 block of East Farabee Road in Salem.
