(BEDFORD) - Bedford officials say building the sidewalk along John Williams Boulevard will cost a little more than expected.
The Bedford Board of Works approved four change orders for Milestone Contractors of Columbus, adding $21,003 to the projects original price of $873,575.
The increase includes the real of six to seven trees near Walmart on the north side - the cost $1,824.
The city agreed to replace the trees on a two-for one basis, but Walmart does not want the trees replaced.
The city will change the crosswalk light near the entrance of Walmart to one that provides sound to the visually impaired. The cost $5,354.
Crews will move a storm drain that is in the path of the sidewalk. Officials did not know the drain was there until it was uncovered. The cost will be $4,075
An anodized finish will be added to handrails, increasing their lifespan for a cost of $9,750.
