Last updated on Thursday, September 18, 2014

(BLOOMFIELD) - 30-year-old Gerald Rippy of Solsberry was arrested Tuesday after courthouse security found him stumbling around inside the Greene County Courthouse.

Rippy left the courthouse before police arrived and got into the driver's seat of a vehicle on South Washington. Officers were able to approach the vehicle before Rippy took off.

Officers discovered Rippy was wanted on a Greene County warrant for petition to revoke probation and was arrested.

Police then searched Rippy as they put him in handcuffs and discovered synthetic drugs and a hypodermic needle that contained an unknown substance.

Street reportedly left the building and entered the driver's seat of a vehicle on South Washington Street, where Allor and Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jim O'Malley approached him to make sure he was okay to drive.

Allor stated in a news release that dispatch advised him that Rippy had an active warrant in Greene County, and he was placed under arrest. He also reported that during a search of Rippy, he found synthetic drugs and a hypodermic needle containing an unknown substance.

He now faces additional charges of possession of a synthetic drug, drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle.
