(JACKSON CO.) - The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close State Road 58 between Kurtz and Freetown at a creek crossing in Jackson County next week for up to 60 days.
According to INDOT project engineer Doug Ewing, State Road 58, east of Kurtz will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 1.
HIS Constructors of Indianapolis is the state's contractor for this Seymour District bridge replacement project at a branch of Bee Creek located 3.75 miles west of S.R. 135. The $845,497 project calls for relocating the S.R. 58 bridge - and the creek channel - approximately 30 feet to the east.
The realigned roadway will also be raised nearly five feet to accommodate the new 3-sided box structure which has a 10-foot rise, 36-foot span and 80-foot width.
A state highway detour routes motorists around the closure via S.R. 446, U.S. Highway 50 and S.R. 135. The S.R. 58 traffic count is 976 vehicles per day.
