(WASHINGTON) - Police are still sorting out the details of a crash Wednesday that left a Washington High School Senior with serious injuries.
According to a Daviess County Sheriff's police report, officers and rescue crews were called to the crash around 9:30 pm. at South East 11 Street just outside of the city limit.
18-year-old Margaret McCormick of Washington was traveling south on 11th Street when the 2007 Nissan Maxima she was driving when off the road, sided-swiped a telephone pole, went through a cornfield and stuck an electric fence before stopping.
McCormick was taken to Daviess Community Hospital with head and neck injuries. She was then flown by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Police say they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The investigation is continuing as officers try to figure out what caused the McCormick vehicle to leave the roadway.
